SPECTER:
a visible, disembodied being
SPIRIT:
a supernatural being, often malevolent, capable of becoming visible, either through collection of energy or possession

spirits which take shadow form and are known to follow the living from place to place;
can be benign or benevolent

a female spirit which pleasures men in their sleep

beyond the natural, visible universe, departure from the normal, attributed to an invisible agent (God, gods, demigods,

SUPERSTITION:
the belief that doing, touching, or saying something will cause luck, good or bad
